Agricultural Sensor Development and Testing Laboratory

We have established an on-site testing laboratory next to the World Technology Center to measure and evaluate the sensors (temperature, soil, moisture content, etc.) developed at SEMITEC.

Purpose

The laboratory is designed as an IoT system, to test newly developed sensors in actual greenhouse conditions and transmit data to the cloud via Wi-Fi communication*. The laboratory uses solar cells as the power source, with an eye to decarbonization, and tests are being conducted on sustainable systems, which will be applied to the development of new products.

* We also design modules for Wi-Fi communication

Inside the greenhouse

Inside the greenhouse, edible vegetables (eggplant, cucumber, etc.) are grown to continuously acquire data on sensor operating conditions under actual conditions for use in sensor development. We have introduced already developed products and are working on durability and improvement studies.

Creating a database of test results using IoT

The above screen shows a visualization on the computer of test data from inside the greenhouse, via the cloud. In this way, data on various developed products can be collected and analyzed.
