Thermistors

Thermistors

The term "Thermistor" is derived from the description, "Thermally Sensitive Resistor". NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) thermistors are devices that display a decrease in resistance with an increase in temperature. Thermistors are ceramic semiconductors and consist mostly of oxidized metal. During the manufacturing process this metal is sintered at high temperatures. Thermistor characteristics, resistance values and form factors are determined by the production process and the sensor dimensions. NTC thermistors are commonly used as temperature sensors for a wide range of applications requiring temperature measurement and temperature compensation.

SEMITEC'S thermistors are fully compliant with RoHS DIRECTIVE2011/65/EU.

Thermistor Probe Assemblies

Thermistor Probe Assemblies

Thermistor probe assemblies are temperature sensors consisting of highly accurate and reliable thermistor elements processed in conjunction with other components. These sensors are custom assemblies offered in various form factors, catered to our customers' applications and needs.

IR Sensors

NC Sensors

NC Sensors

The NC sensor employs SEMITEC's original IR detection structure which allows the use of non-contact sensors in demanding environments that had previously not been possible. The sensor assembly consists of two high-precision thermistors. One detects IR radiation emmitted from an object, and the other measures the ambient temperature for compensation. By using the temperature differential between the two measurement outputs the target temperature can be calculated.

SEMITEC'S NC sensor is fully compliant with RoHS DIRECTIVE2011/65/EU.

Thermopiles

Thermopiles

Thermopiles are IR temperature sensors that adopt the same principles as thermocouples. Higher output, faster response time and lower prices have been achieved by making full use of SEMITEC original silicon-micromachining technology based on semiconductor processing. Furthermore, with the use of an additional high precision thermistor for compensation, temperature sensing accuracy has been substantially increased.

SEMITEC'S thermopiles are fully compliant with RoHS DIRECTIVE2011/65/EU.

Semiconductor Devices

Zenamic

Zenamic

Zenamic is Semitec's registered trademark for metal oxide varistors which are transient voltage surge absorbers. Zenamic features large surge current and transient overvoltage handling capabilities. It is produced by sintering a ZnO based metal oxide mix at temperatures ranging from 1200 to 1400℃.

SEMITEC'S Zenamic products are fully compliant with RoHS DIRECTIVE2011/65/EU.

VRD (Voltage Regulating Diode)

VRD (Voltage Regulating Diode)

SEMITEC Voltage Regulating Diode (VRD) is a transient voltage suppressor device that is designed to absorb voltage surges and spikes that occur during power initiation. Our VRD features uniform avalanche breakdown across the junction, enabling very fast response to surge voltage. Furthermore, its control voltage is almost independent from the current which makes it a highly reliable, high performance device.

SEMITEC'S VRDs are fully compliant with RoHS DIRECTIVE2011/65/EU.

CRD (Current Regulating Diode)

CRD (Current Regulating Diode)

Current Regulating Diodes (CRD hereunder) are diodes that maintain a constant current flow despite voltage fluctuations. CRDs supply constant current over a wide range of voltage from sub 1V to 100V. Constant current is supplied, regardless of fluctuations in voltage applied, load resistance changes and ripple voltage. Creating a constant current circuit generally involves multiple components, but with SEMITEC CRDs only one part is required to accomplish the same function.

SEMITEC'S CRDs are fully compliant with RoHS DIRECTIVE2011/65/EU.

Power Thermistors

Power Thermistors

Power Thermistors, also known as Inrush Current Suppressors, are a sub-category of NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) thermistors. Power Thermistors utilize the self heating properties of NTC thermistors which self heat with current flow, dramatically decreasing resistance.

SEMITEC'S power thermistors are fully compliant with RoHS DIRECTIVE2011/65/EU.
